Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This page explains what cansbase.com stores in your browser and how to change your choice. The site stores one entry to remember your analytics decision. Analytics, if you accept it, runs without cookies or other browser storage.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small pieces of data a website stores in your browser. Websites can also use similar browser storage, such as localStorage. This policy covers both.
Storage that remembers your choice
When you choose “Accept analytics” or “Decline”, the site saves that decision in your browser’s localStorage under the name cansbase_analytics_consent, with the value granted or denied. It exists only so the banner does not reappear on every page and your decision is respected. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to any server, and it stays until you change your choice or clear your browser’s data for this site.
Analytics — only after you accept
If you accept, the site loads PostHog’s script from PostHog’s EU Cloud (eu.i.posthog.com) and uses it for limited, privacy-minimised analytics. PostHog is configured not to store anything in your browser: no cookie, no localStorage and no sessionStorage. The random identifier it generates exists only in memory for a single page load, so page views are not linked to each other across pages or visits, and no person profile is created.
Analytics counts which pages are viewed and which of these interactions happen: opening an experience or project page, expanding an expertise item, following an expertise-to-experience link, clicking the email, LinkedIn or CV-request buttons, and switching language. Each event carries only the page path (without any query string), the page language and the item involved. Browser, operating system, device, screen size, user agent, referrer and campaign details are removed before sending, and the site asks PostHog not to derive a location from your IP address.
The site’s code turns off automatic capture of clicks and text (autocapture), session recording and any recording of form input, surveys, heatmaps, dead-click capture, page-leave events, error capture, performance capture, feature flags and PostHog’s remote configuration. Because remote configuration is not loaded, settings in the PostHog project do not switch these features on in your browser.
What the site does not use
No advertising cookies, no social media pixels, no behavioural profiling and no tracking across other sites. Following the LinkedIn link takes you to LinkedIn, which applies its own cookies and policies. In ordinary operation the site’s pages are served without any cookie (as observed when this policy was last updated). If a Cloudflare security feature needs to challenge a request, Cloudflare may set a security cookie of its own for that purpose.
Your choice
Analytics is off until you decide. The banner offers “Accept analytics” and “Decline” as equal choices. If you decline — or simply do not choose — PostHog is not loaded and no analytics request is made. Declining does not limit your use of the site in any way.
Changing your decision
Use Cookie Preferences in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and choose again.
If you switch from accepting to declining, nothing further is sent from that moment, and PostHog is not loaded on later visits. Earlier versions of this site let PostHog store an identifier in your browser; any such entries (names beginning with ph_ or __ph_) are removed automatically. Only your choice itself stays stored. Data already collected is not deleted by this; to ask for it to be deleted, email [email protected].
You can also delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser’s settings. The banner will then ask again.
Third-party services
PostHog (PostHog Inc.) provides the analytics service; see PostHog’s privacy policy. Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) hosts and delivers the site; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Each processes data under its own terms.
