Privacy Notice
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data cansbase.com processes, why, and what choices you have. cansbase.com is the personal professional portfolio of Can Sevim. It has no user accounts, no contact forms, no advertising and no newsletter.
Who is responsible
The site is run by Can Sevim as an individual. Can Sevim decides how the personal data described here is used (the data controller). There is no company behind the site. Privacy contact: [email protected].
What data is processed and how it is collected
- Emails you send. If you write to the address on this site — for example to request a CV — your email address, your name and whatever you choose to include in the message are received in Can Sevim’s inbox.
- Network and request data. Whenever your browser connects to a service, that service necessarily receives network and request data such as your IP address, your browser’s user agent, the requested address and the time. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, receives this for every page; PostHog receives it only if you accept analytics. Providers may process it to deliver and secure their service. This happens at network level, independently of the analytics data the site chooses to send.
- Limited, privacy-minimised analytics — only if you accept. If you choose “Accept analytics”, PostHog receives page views and a fixed set of interactions: opening an experience or project page, expanding an expertise item, following an expertise-to-experience link, clicking the email, LinkedIn or CV-request buttons, and switching language. Each event carries only the page path (without any query string), the page language, the item involved — for example which experience, project or expertise — and a random identifier that exists only for that page load and is not stored in your browser. The browser, operating system, device, screen size, user agent, referrer and campaign details that PostHog’s script would otherwise add are removed before sending, and the site asks PostHog not to derive a location from your IP address. See the Cookie Policy for details.
The site does not create person profiles or identify visitors in analytics, does not record your screen, keystrokes or form input, does not automatically capture clicks or text, and does not use analytics for advertising or behavioural profiling.
Purposes and legal grounds
- Replying to your email and any follow-up you ask for — where applicable, based on the legitimate interest in responding to people who make contact, provided that interest does not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.
- Delivering the site and keeping it secure and available (strictly necessary technical and security processing) — where applicable, based on the legitimate interest in operating a working, secure website, under the same condition.
- Understanding which pages and sections are useful, to improve the site — based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Personal data is not sold and is not used for advertising.
Service providers and transfers abroad
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) hosts and delivers the site and protects it against abuse. Cloudflare runs a global network, so a request may be handled in a data centre outside your country.
- PostHog (PostHog Inc.) provides analytics, used only after you accept. The site sends analytics to PostHog’s EU Cloud (eu.i.posthog.com); PostHog states that EU Cloud data is hosted in the European Union.
- Google provides the Gmail account behind the contact address, so emails you send are processed by Google as the email provider.
Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. Cloudflare, PostHog and Google use international infrastructure outside Türkiye, and in some cases outside the European Economic Area, so using the site or emailing Can Sevim may involve your personal data being processed or transferred abroad. Such cross-border processing is subject to the applicable legal requirements, including Article 9 of KVKK for transfers from Türkiye. Analytics data is sent to PostHog only if you accept analytics.
How long data is kept
- Emails are kept for as long as they are needed for the conversation and reasonable follow-up, and deleted when no longer needed.
- Network and request data is handled by the providers under their own retention practices. The site does not run a server of its own and keeps no separate access logs.
- Analytics data is retained according to the retention configured for the PostHog project and the provider’s own terms, and only as long as reasonably necessary to understand how the site is used. The site’s code does not set a separate period.
- Your analytics choice stays in your browser until you change it or clear your browser’s data for this site.
Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you — for example the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) or, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — you may have the right to:
- learn whether your personal data is processed, and get information about it and a copy of it;
- learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used for that purpose;
- know the third parties, in Türkiye or abroad, to which it is transferred;
- have incomplete or inaccurate data corrected, and have data deleted;
- object to processing, or ask for it to be restricted;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before;
- complain to a data protection authority, such as the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board.
How to make a request
Email [email protected] with your request. Because analytics does not identify visitors or keep an identifier in your browser, it may not be possible to single out analytics events that relate to you. Requests are handled as soon as possible and no later than the applicable statutory period; where applicable, a fee may be charged according to the tariff set by the competent authority.
Withdrawing analytics consent
Analytics is off until you choose, and declining does not limit your use of the site. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie Preferences in the footer of every page. If you decline after accepting, analytics collection stops in your browser from that moment. Data collected before then is not removed automatically; to ask for it to be deleted, email [email protected]. The Cookie Policy explains this in more detail.
